Antique Victorian Black Enamel Diamond Five Stone 18ct Yellow Gold Mourning Ring - Dated 1856
Antique Victorian Black Enamel Diamond Five Stone 18ct Yellow Gold Mourning Ring - Dated 1856
This beautiful Antique Victorian Mourning ring features five graduating old-cut Diamonds totalling 0.55ct (approx) and wonderful Black Enamelling, modelled in 18ct Yellow Gold.
Black Enamel was used in jewellery to signify mourning. The trend of mourning jewellery reached its high point after the death of Prince Albert in 1861, when Queen Victoria, as well as members of her court, wore black clothing and matching mourning jewellery for decades.
The enamel work surrounds the Diamonds and chases down the shoulders of the ring. This amazing piece is a chunky weight of over 6 grams and boasts a full set of hallmarks to London 1856, which is remarkable!
The Diamonds are wonderfully old cut and have a brilliant, mysterious sparkle.
This is a beautiful, highly collectable ring which would make a great addition to any collection.
