This quality Antique Gate Bracelet is complete with a heart padlock fastening and safety chain, modelled in 9ct Solid Gold, dating to circa.1900.
Padlock bracelets became popular during the Victorian period, they were worn by women whose significant others were leaving for an extended period of time. The bracelet would be locked on to the woman’s wrist by the padlock charm, to which only her beloved would have the key- he would then open it upon his return.
This padlock bracelet is a very rare and unusual example, with embossed bars and an ivy leaf engraved heart padlock. Ivy leaves symbolise eternity, fidelity, and strong affectionate attachment, such as wedded love and friendship.
This bracelet is a beautiful example of this style which is in superb condition.

We gladly accept layaway on all items in our shop.
All pieces may be reserved with a 20% non-refundable deposit.
After the deposit is made, you then have 2-4 months to complete the outstanding balance at your own convenience without any pressure from us.
We usually ask items under £250 to be paid within 2 months and any items over £250 to be paid within 3-4 months. But this can be discussed to suit you.
If a layaway is cancelled, the deposit amount is non-refundable. You are only eligible for shop credit if a layaway item is returned.
