This quality Antique Albert Chain is modelled throughout in solid 18ct Yellow Gold. It features a bolt ring and Dog Clip fastening and a T-bar drop slider. The chain is all original with the same maker's mark and is fully dated to Birmingham, 1902.
An Albert chain is a decorative chain originally used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer's clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach the pocket watch, too, and the T-bar would go through the buttonhole of a waistcoat to secure it in place.
Today, these are often worn as necklaces, and the clips can be used to hang a pendant around the neck.
Due to the price of gold, few Albert chains in 18ct Gold remain; many have been melted down over the years. This rare and quality find would make a superb investment for the future.

CONDITION
This remarkable find remains in excellent antique condition. There is some light wear in keeping with age, however, nothing affects the structure and security of the piece. The hallmarks can be easily read, and the links remain solid. The bolt ring is springy and secure, and this is an investment piece for your collection!

All pieces may be reserved with a 20% non-refundable deposit.
After the deposit is made, you then have 2-4 months to complete the outstanding balance at your own convenience without any pressure from us.
We usually ask items under £250 to be paid within 2 months and any items over £250 to be paid within 3-4 months. But this can be discussed to suit you.
If a layaway is cancelled, the deposit amount is non-refundable. You are only eligible for shop credit if a layaway item is returned.
